Why is Congress letting scammers off the hook?

U.S. Senator Tina Smith (D-MN) took to the Senate Floor to implore her colleagues not to let the dismantling of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau stand. Smith highlighted how a predatory lender used a contract for deed to take advantage of a Minnesotan who wanted a home that fit his growing family. The CFPB drafted regulations that would crack down on these predatory lenders, who have particularly targeted the Muslim population in Minnesota's Twin Cities. Now, with the CFPB all but dismantled by the Trump Administration, these scammers are getting the green light to continue ripping off Minnesotans.
